Carrying solar panels on head

Pico Sol supports small scale applications of solar power in developing countries. Two billion of people in these countries still have no access to a reliable electricity supply. The lack of an electricity grid is a barrier to the development of rural population. Pico Sol contributes to the development of rural areas by supporting projects with a solar power supply. Our focus is on projects that serve a communal interest, like schools, hospitals, village pumps and orphanages. Our support consists of a financial contribution, technical advises and co-ordination of activities on site.

Schools

Remote schools in many countries still have no electricity. But reading and writing is quite easier with lighting than in a dark class room! Solar power can lighten this situation. Also many education methods make use of electricity. Adults that work in the daytime can attend education in the evenings. In this way, solar power can contribute to a massive impulse in development!

Health Centres

Medical care in rural areas can be improved by electricity. Lighting will enable simple operations. Expensive medicines can be kept cool in a reliable way. And in cases of emergency, additional help can be switched in by means of radio contact with the city.

Water pumps

Women spend daily hours by carrying water at remote wells. Solar power enables to provide clean water in the village. In this way, women can use their time in a more efficient way, for family and personal development.
